"I actually got this from a conversation with Matt Williams, when I was in Cleveland, probably 1996 or 97. He started his season off real good, like .350 in about 150 at bats, and all of a sudden he started going bad. I came through one night and he was laying on the training table, and he was saying “I’m so bad, I can’t get a hit,” and all of this. And he says, “You gotta help me, I know I’m going all the way down to .180…” And so I said, “Well, when you get there we’ll start working on getting you back up again.” And as I was walking away this came to me, and I just turned and said, “Always remember: If you’re hot, stay hot.
